Day 19: Last day in Heidelberg (and Germany)
Hallo freunde!
Welcome to yet another installment of the epic MATH257 blog as we chronicle our travels across Germany & Sweden! Today, we bid farewell to Heidelberg and spent a lovely last day in Germany. We will all miss it here (especially the pretzels).
We started off today with class as usual, spending our time looking at some partial & higher order differential equations, as well as brushing up on our calculus skills (safe to say it’s been too long since I’ve taken a partial derivative). As always, class was filled with laughs and, for me, many posed selfies as we worked through our problem sets. Enjoy the sassy selfie!
Afterwards, many of us went off to get lunch. In the truest of German fashion, a warm pretzel was the right way to go. Many us have quickly grown fond of the Pretzel kiosk located a few blocks from our hotel along the main road in downtown Heidelberg!
Post-lunch fuel, the MATH257-ers could be found traversing all about Heidelberg! Some chose to walk along the infamous Philosopher’s Way, boasting incredible views of the castle in Heidelberg, as well as ancient ruins throughout. Super cool stuff! Others went to reunite with old friends and cook some scrumptious food. As for Sasha and I, we chose to take in the stunning scenery of Heidelberg at the bridge once more (though Northfield’s Canon River might be a distant competitor to Heidelberg’s natural beauty). We also treated ourselves to cake at one of the bakeries just near the bridge. Scrumptious!!
Reflecting on our time in Germany, it’s been amazing to take in the architectural, natural, and cultural beauty of this incredible country. We’re truly all so lucky to have gotten to spend an incredible few weeks in the amazing place.
Danke Deutschland 🇩🇪 (and see you soon Stockholm!)
