Last Math Class!

Hej!

Stockholm brought out all the stocks for today with some gorgeous sunshine! We started the morning bright and early with an 8 a.m. breakfast to kick off the day on the right foot. After that, we had a culture lesson with our Stockholm guide, who taught us about Swedish language, history, innovation, art, and cultural norms. It was a fascinating introduction to life and culture in Sweden.

We then switched gears and jumped into math, learning about Sofia Kovalevskaya and her applications to mathematics, especially her counterexample and the Cauchy-Kovalevskaya Theorem. We wrapped up the lesson by solving a problem together as a class. Huge shoutout to Kaisa, Roxanne, and me for completing our very last undergraduate math class ever! Our math journey ended on a high note!

After grabbing lunch at 7-Eleven, we hopped on a bus to visit Sofia Kovalevskaya’s grave. Along the way, David and Isaac kept us entertained with anime conversations that helped distract us from the cold. Somehow, John appeared out of nowhere and joined us for the rest of the journey. We then made our way to Alfred Nobel’s grave, where I contributed to the day’s discussions by sharing facts about Dancing with the Stars.

Once we left the cemetery, we returned to our hostel, Generator. Many of us stopped by Bröd and Salt to enjoy coffee, good company, and a comfortable place to work on our upcoming presentation and paper. Meanwhile, my roommate Marit and I went shopping, making it even harder to pack for our trip home because who doesn’t like a fun challenge? On the way back, we watched the sunset and shared a pizza at an Italian restaurant and ended the night working on our presentations.

Overall, it was a full day of learning, laughter, and fun memories. Our math journey feels complete, and we are excited to enjoy our final days in Stockholm.

Hej då!
